Service Description

Learn to create small, tactile figurines that fit perfectly in the palm of your hand! Not only are they beautiful decor pieces, but they are tactile objects which bring comfort and security when you hold them. This class is inspired by the practice of Comfort Birds - the story goes that a woodworker with an elderly neighbour carved a bird as a gift. The neighbour found that it was a comforting thing to hold, and helped to ground and relax her in moments of anxiety and stress. She loved it so much that when she passed, they found that she was holding onto the bird. Small carved items have since found their place with counsellors and therapists, and are also used as sensory objects, especially for children. Not only do they have great therapeutic use, but they also look amazing too! Classes run for 3.5 hours, and are suitable for first-timers, beginners, and experienced woodworkers alike! All tools are provided on the day.
